My front diff case broke at one of the tower connections. Was in the process of replacing it tonight. Hit a snag. I can’t for the life of me get my outdrive couple off. The set screw has been removed, but that sucker won’t budge. Anyone else dealt with this on this car or any other RC. I’ve got it soaking in some PB blaster overnight, but don’t expect much. Could lock tight have gotten down in there or something? I hate to have to order a bunch of little parts just due to this.

Try prying it with a flat head? Add some heat from a soldering iron?

Tried both. No dice. Just checked the rear out of curiosity. Same thing. Good news, these shouldn’t ever break lose. Bad news, now I need to order a bunch of little pieces and wait a week for them to arrive.

My outdrives kept getting lose with the blue locktite, so I stepped up to the red. May have been a bad choice.

Edit: solder tool turned up to 900, a vice, and small amount of blood. It’s now apart.

Next time go the drake route- 50/50 mix of blue and red lock tite - that will give you the holding power needed without being welded on lol

I agree, even mixing your own 50/50 is best, same brands is ideal.

I had to use a pencil style hot air and heated it up. Sparkfun makes a decent one.

I put the Allen wrench in and heated the wrench more than the drive.

The material is acetone resistant, could soak it in fingernail polish remover. Just the drive not the whole half case.

Latest pictures:
current upgrades are; aluminum front spindle carriers and spindles, aluminum front top brace, suspension is fully honed.

Tekin RX8 G3, T8 G3 redline 1900kv

Wish I’d known to grease the screws and tie rods.

I noticed that the rate is odd, essentially in the rear.
Got any part numbers?

I just kept them close to stock in weight. Team Losi Racing: 16mm EVO Shock Springs for 8IGHT 4.0

Seems like the norm is to go a little heavier though. You also need the 2.0 spring cups.

Nice looking setup. I’m really liking my 4.0. Hope you enjoy that one.

Last night was the most fun race of the season so far. Got to go head-to-head with a TLR driver running an Xe.

I just converted my 4.0 nitro buggy into an ebuggy because I got a new nitro X. What I want to know is if the side guards from the 4.0e will fit on a 4.0 nitro chassis? None of the ebuggy bodies will fit with the nitro side guards on it. Thanks guys

It appears that you will have to get the 4.0-e chassis.
