Mugen MBX7TR / Tekin RX8Gen 2 speed controller and 4030B 2050Kv combo
Hey everyone!
I decided to get back into the RC game after a long hiatus. I've done both electric and nitro, but a lot has changed since. My last car was a Mugen MBX4 nitro so I wanted to stick with Mugen. I should also add that I'm pretty new to the truggy scene and the new electronics (brushless motors, LiPo batteries, etc.).
I found a deal on the Mugen Seiki Facebook page for a deal on the MBX7TR Eco with a Tekin RX8 Gen 2 speed controller and 4030B 2050Kv for $739. I'm a little confused since they are putting in a motor for buggies and not truggies. How will this impact my truggy experience? What type of batteries should I be purchasing along with this combo? I've been reading around and it seems that SMC is a good provider when it comes to LiPo.
I don't really plan on tracking the car, mostly bashing (also a new term to me).
Thank you in advance for your help!

Well, I ended up getting the deal anyway. I'm going to pick up the 4038B 2000kv for truggies and just sell the 4030B 2050kv. I also ended up picking up a couple SMC 14.8V 6500mAh 60C LiPos.

We have several local guys that race elec Truggies.....with Buggy motors in them. They don't have an issues running the slightly smaller motor.
Just check your temps!

Thank you for your reply. I also reached out to Mugen about this combo and said that it's the same setup that Adam Drake uses. I already ordered the 2000kv truggy motor so I'll probably just stick with that one.
What is your opinion with my battery choice?

SMC is the battery of choice these days. Quality and price are excellent.
