Default Granite Castle Brushless Upgrade Help

Purchased the Castle SCT Sidewinder ESC w/ 3800kv Brushless motor running a Venom 7 cell 4200mah battery. Just installed it an hour ago into a Granite Mega, had the battery on the charger before installing it all so should be fully charged.

Issue is I only get about 2 seconds of running before forward throttle stops responding. Steering servo still responds, brake still works, when I try to reverse it chugs a little but doesn't really move, when I hit the throttle to go forward it doesn't respond at all.

If at that point I shut off the ESC and turn it back on It will do exactly the same thing. Two seconds then forward throttle stops responding. The throttle seems pretty inconsistent each time too. First time it will accelerate fast but under control, second time it will take off balls to the wall, one time so much it straight flipped onto its roof.

I've tried going thru the initial setup process to set the ESC end points a dozen times, doesn't help. Tried messing with the throttle trim, doesn't help. No idea what to do next.

Please Help !!

Can you go in and adjust the settings at all. Sounds like the ESC may be set for a LiPo battery and it is hitting the low voltage cut off.

Good call. I was going off of the "quick start" guide which mentions nothing about battery and ESC settings. But it looks like in their full "Drivers Ed" manual the ESC is defaulted to "auto-LiPo" mode, whereas I need it set to the no voltage cutoff setting for my 7 cell battery pack. So that is in all likelihood the issue.

I'll have to give that a shot in the morning. There is a big pain in the ass process to go thru to get to that setting so it'll take me a few tries of I'm sure screwing it up before I get it set right.

Just wanted to say thank you RiverBluff. That was the issues. Got it all reprogrammed today and the new brushless system tears it up, even with only an NiMH battery and my son is happy!
