Scte Pro4mance Chassis Bent?

Hello all, been reading the forum for some time but this is my first post. I got a Pro4mance scte chassis (used) that I traded some fishing stuff for. When i set the chassis on a flat glass surface, it doesnt lie perfectly flat. If I press down on the chassis where the stearing posts go, the rear end of the chassis lifts off the glass surface 3 to 4 millimeters. Is this how the chassis is made? Edit, Mods I realize I posted this in the wrong place, sorry if you could please move it to the scte thread I would appreciate it and apolagize for my inconvenience.

No, it's meant to be straight. That said, mine also has a lot of miles on it, and it's bent in other ways, so maybe it's not the strongest design around.

Hmm, thats very disapointing. Its in great condition, I assume theres no safe way to straighten it out. Is it normal for an aluminum chassis to bow from regular racing?

With enough wear and impact, sure, but aluminum doesn't respond to bending like steel does. It'll become much weaker if you try to straighten it out.

I guess I just run the crap out of the thing and not worry about it. Sucks Im a bit of a perfectionist with my rc and planned on building a new truck around this chassis, the "powdercoating" is chipping off some and I was going to get it anodized and build it up for this season.... Just dunno what I should do now, I dont really wanna invest any money in a bent chassis.

"Just a heads up on the mip so nobody freaks out. The chassis DOES have a natural bow to it in the center I had asked Matt with mip about this and validated that fact." After tons of digging I found this on the web. Anyone have a new chassis or anything to back this up with? If this is true then I will move forward with anodizing the chassis. I havent been able to find any other Pro4mance scte chassis that has been anodized. Thoughts on anodizing chassis? Should look pretty sick anodized instead of that crappy white powdercoat.

Bump

Stripped the chassis and talked to the Anodizer. Should be ready this next Monday or Tuesday.

Do you know anyone with an anodized pro4mance scte chassis? Post pics? Anyone? Trying to post pics of my chassis and site keeps saying file upload failed? Help anyone?

ThePanda 12-24-2015 10:27 AM

The chassis is already powder coated so there probably isn't much desire to anodised it.

tacobob89 12-24-2015 10:32 AM

Too bad powdercoating is a terrible coating for a chassis. The one I recieved was lightly used and the powdercoat was already chipping and coming off of it. The white just looked odd to me as well. Like it was plastic. Well if i can get pictures to upload i can show ya what an anodized one will look like next week.

tacobob89 12-24-2015 10:34 AM

I havent found a single one anywhere thats been anodized, but I figured with how people throw money wildly at their scte's figured someone had already done it.

I think that most people have moved on to the new generation 1/8 based trucks so there isn't as much being discussed with the scte.

Truggys?
