Hobby King just brought back the BZ-222 for $50 again. US East warehouse, too! Only $12 shipping so I grabbed one along with a Turnigy SCT 2WD (wasn't on sale).

I just went to Horizon and they would not let me use the coupon on the 3.0 since it was on backorder. I did realize that Amain.com has the 2.0 buggy on sale for only 159.99! Thats ridicules. They also had the 3.0 8ight for $299! that buggy i know can be converted to the 4.0 easy, so you better believe I'm swooping up on that kit!!!

Yeah, the 3.0 can be converted (minus the chassis) for around $150 I believe. We were checking the parts the other day.

Thanks for mentioning our deals, nitrorush27.

Here is a link to our Black Friday specials:http://bit.ly/1PStEDg

Why would you spend $400+ to upgrade a $299 car? Just get a 4.0

"From PLanet Losi Racing on Facebook

Since we've shared this article we have received lots of question. One of the frequently asked question was if it is possible to convert a 3.0 into a 4.0. We have investigated this question and yes it is possible. BUT, it costs a lot and it makes more sense to buy a new kit and sell your 3.0. The 3.0 is still a great buggy, the launch of the 4.0 doesn't change that.

When you buy all 4.0 parts separately you have to order the following parts:

TLR242018 Axle Boot Set
TLR243033 Shock Cap Bushings
TLR243035 Shock Stand-Off
TLR241019 Fuel Tank
TLR247000 3/32 x 3/16 x 3/32" Sealed Ball Bearings
TLR241015 Front Chassis Brace
TLR244026 Rear Shock Tower, Aluminium
TLR244022 Rear Hub Set
TLR244025 Front Shock Tower, Aluminum
TLR243034 16mm Bleeder Shock Caps (x2)
TLR244024 Front Spindle Set
TLR242017 F/R CV Driveshaft Axles (x2)
TLR241014 Chassis
TLR242019 Spacer, Pinion Bearings
TLR241018 Brake Linkage Hardware
TLR242016 Front Center Dogbone
TLR241017 Engine Mount Set
TLR244023 Front Spindle Carrier Set, 15 Degree
TLR244027 Hinge Pins, 4 x 21mm TiCN (x2)
TLR241016 Side Guard Set
TLR245004 Ackerman Shoulder Screws
LOSA6942 8x16mm Sealed Ball Bearing (x2)
TLR241005 Bumper
This makes a total of USD 450,-. A complete kit costs USD 619.99 so it doesn't make sense to convert a 3.0 in our opinion. The list doesn't include the new 4.0 Cab Forward body. This because you can use a 3.0 body but have to make some adjustments, this because the engine is located more to the side.

I can't confirm that the $450 dollar amount in the above post is 100% accurate but no RETAILER is going to convince me that I can spend $450 plus a chassis and get a TLR 4.0

3.0 ($299) + $150 in upgrades = $450 (o.k., $449)

Wow sorry I did not state all of that..... From talking to TLR team members they mentioned the most effective changes being the suspension geometry, and the hubs. Adding this to the 3.0 would be killer IMO. Im not sure about your opinion, but the 3.0 was a solid buggy!! IMO its folks like you that kill the sport for the guys with out the budget to keep up on new kits every 6 months, but hey its just my opinion. Any ways this is neither the time or the place for this, I was just simply trying to help my fellow RC'ers.

Kinda bummed there's no kick butt deals like 50% off brushless motors or something. In general this BF isn't all that great.

The 3.0 is a solid car, I own one. I don't have an endless budget to get new cars every 6 months, not 1/8 scale ones anyway. Getting a 3.0 for $300 is a DEAL for sure. I just don't want less informed people thinking they can get this deal and then upgrade and have a true 4.0 for minimal cost.

Again a 3.0 for $300 is a great deal, and a great car. But if your plan is to get that deal thinking you can save money and upgrade it to a 4.0, you gotta do the math and see if it's really worth it.

I do my best to help guys with limited budgets stay in the sport. I never suggest items to people who may never actually benefit from them. I often tell people a main or 2 below me "Don't buy that, I don't even need that, it's a waste of money."
