Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

Default Stock spur

Hi everyone. Was just wondering if there is a 72t hds compatible spur gear for the 22 3.0? I looked it up and the only low tooth spurs I could find were for the direct drive system. Help would be appreciated. Cheers.

I believe 76 tooth is the smallest spur gear possible with the HDS pads, 72 and lower i know you have to use the non-hds spurs and pads.

Is the kick shim mod universally beneficial or only when used in combination with the laydown conversion kit?

I'm driving outdoor on medium bite currently so the laydown conversion isn't on my short list until we go back indoors.

The kick shim mod is for HRC. You do not want to use this with outdoor tracks, carpet or indoor laydown conversions only.

Roger that, I did the mod while installing a new bellcrank set, I will undo those changes with some spare parts I have.

I use an AE 72t spur that I had lying around. The HDS pads will need a slight trim, but it works.

Or just use AE pads.

Yes it does. It has to sit a little bit further back to get the shaft in the pre cut hole. You also have to trim a little off the back for the arms not to rub

It's pretty damn good, I'm liking the 4-gear transmission outdoors for some more rear grip. Other than that, I went up one size on both front and rear pistons to soak up some bumps and am using low frequency springs.

Some one did post in a previous post that they e-mailed Exotek and they said that the +3 hubs would work with their tranny.
Ok, I got the Exotek all installed and decided not to modify the front kick plate and add the +3 rear hubs to move up the roll center 3mm. Now, the question is how low, with just the Exotek leydown tranny, can you make your ride height?
I understand using the TLR laydown kit the +3mm rear hubs and the front kick plate mod is needed to move the roll center up so you can run a lower ride height. So, I'm thinking that I can go down a few mms using the Exotek, but not sure. Any thoughts from you jeti masters out there?
