Default Picking a Motor for SCT 4x4

Hey guys I am going to be building a Tekno 410.2 this year for indoor racing/practice at South Jersey RC. Think the track is about 130x70 ft. Last year I ran a Tekin 4300HD motor in a slash and it seemed to be very good. I am thinking about doing the same thing this year in my Tekno but wanted to see if anyone else could recommend any other motor I should consider before buying.

Hobbywing 3665 motors are awesome and quite a bit cheaper.

I ran the pro 4 hd 4300 , the pro 4 4600 , the pro 4 4000 , the hobby wing 4700 , and the viper copperhead in my truck on a track the same size as yours . Only the Viper and the pro 4 4000 were disappointing. I settled on the 4300 hd ; it seemed the most flexible.

From what i ve seen in this forum for 2 years, people are very happy with tekin 4300kv with rx8 and hobbywing 4000 and 4700kv with hobbywing v3.1 esc or rx8 or vtx8. Some people like 4700kv hobbywing but most of them said it is overpowered. Generally hobbywing users prefer 4000kv version. Also with hobbywing v3.1 esc, you can use timing to boost the power of the motor even further.

Most guys that are running the Hobbywing motor team it with a HW SCT Pro. The motor esc combo is the same price an a new RX8.

Reedy 544 4700KV is a VERY underrated motor. Incredibly fast, runs cool, and it's light weight cause it's a 540 size can. I've had the hobbywing 4700 as well, and the Reedy rips way harder in my personal experience

I just finished building my SCT 410.3 and I installed the Hobbywing SCT combo with the 4700. I painted up the Parma 68 Muscle Baja body and I can run it as an off road rally car or a 1/8 GT street rod.

I run a hobby wing sct pro esc and a Tekin pro 4 4600. The 4600 motor is extremely powerful. My truck can hit all the jumps my 1/8 buggy takes with ease. Its nice being able to take the same line with both classes.

I was never into 4x4 sc for that long, but when I was, I ran the Trinity Zombie 4800 kV. i have a losi scte 2.0. It was a great truck but i sold it to go back to 2wd SC. That motor was a freakin tractor. It could run hot at times, but thats because I had the timing turned all the way up and ran tons of boost (I love overpowered cars...) . Great motor. The only other motor i considered (due to their long standing reputation on how good their stuff is) was the new Reedy Sonic 544 4-pole motor. I heard that was a killer motor too.

My one season old pro4 hd just shat the bed. Rotor/magnet separation.... Same fate my one year old T8 gen2 has suffered.... Twice... Both motors are properly geared, never over heated and kept clean.
I am quite down on these Tekin motors right now as for the price they should hold up ....especially when looked after. The Kevlar rap just doesn't seem to be enough to keep them together.
The performance, smoothness, torque and power are awesome, but when it all locks up mid run that all means nothing 😣
At this point I'm sure if I'm going to invest the $140 ( shipping 2 ways + rebuild cost) to have it fixed or just invest in something new.
