VBC Racing - FireboltRM 2015
Wooohooo!!! Looks like the RM version of the awesome MM Firebolt is going to be here soon.
Already looks like there's a fair amount of parts similarity between the MM and RM version.
Some features:
– Rear motor layout
– One piece 7075 aluminium alloy chassis with front angled kick-up clearance
– Adjustable flex graphite upper deck
– Full carbon fibre front and rear shock towers
– Composite/7075 aluminium alloy hybrid motor guard
– Accept stick, shorty (in straight and transverse configurations), square and saddle packs
– Lightweight low friction 3 gears transmission with V2 composite gears
– Smooth high torque ball differential
– Lightweight slipper clutch
– 3.5mm high strength carbon fibre shock tower
– Ultra strong spring steel turnbuckles, CVDs, top shaft and wheel shafts
– Ball raced steering system
– Highly adjustable via included inserts
– V2 ultra strong lightweight composite materials
– Finned CNC 7075 aluminium alloy motor mount
– Fully ball raced
– Slim lined racing body with high down force wing
– Complete line of options available to suit different track conditions
I'll be picking one of these up! One thing that seems to have been quite sneaky with the pictures is that we can't see the underside of the chassis where the gearbox is. I know that we can't directly use the MM chassis with the RM components, as it lacks the screw holds to screw the gearbox down when the gearbox is flipped around. If this chassis has the holes for both RM and MM, could theoretically use this alum chassis with the MM parts and not have to worry about the old plastic kick up piece snapping when using the alum pivot block.
EDIT: Looks like you might not be able to flip to MM - I can't see the holes in the chassis for the C suspension hinge pin block when it would be MM but these are the photos for the prototype. We'll see!!

The DM was always marketed as a mid motor ideal for clay tracks or other less-than-perfect grip conditions.
So is there a need for a rear motor kit? And one that can not be converted like others, i.e. the B5 or the Dex210.
It seems that: or there is a conversion in the cooks for the RM or the DM is not as good on clay as it says.
I really like the DM, so I'm a bit confused.

The b5 isnt exactly "convertible", no more then the firebolt anyway. RM kit is more suited for dry or wet, loose and dusty tracks or even clay tracks lacking bite.

*edit - the RM kit I was looking at on HK is no longer on sale - back to full price (AUD$343), they were on special a couple of days ago for like AUD$157! Will give it a miss I think

Actually I had a RM and a MM. They both are going to the same new owner. Everything was identical minus the chassis . One interesting thing not mentioned anywhere is that the RM trans case has room to instal a fourth gear so you can reverse the trans and use in MM. With my DEX 210 I remember being able to run RM 3 and 4 gear as well as MM 3and 4 gear configuration , cool tunning tool for track conditions
