Hey gents,
Looking for a good carpet setup. We race on black carpet, really good grip. Fairly tight track. I have a new-to-me SC5M with a B6 laydown transmission and ball diff. I literally took it out of the box and put it on the track.
I was thinking...
Grey front, white rear springs
37.5 front, 32 rear oil
Gear diff in the future but not right away.
Does anyone have a setup that is money for similar conditions?

I am running this on my SC5M except for 2-1.5 front pistons, 2-1.6 pistons rear, 1mm under rear ballstud, 5000# oil in diff, and grey truck springs all 4 corners.

What tires are allowed? I know some carpet places that only allow slicks. That will change how you set up the car. My truck is set up for pin rears wedge fronts, I run pretty much all stock except 45-50wt oils, blue buggy rear springs on the front, gray truck spring on the rear. On our track, I’ve found the stiffer you can get the truck, the less you’ll traction roll. And get the truck as low as possible. Check out the short course nation Facebook page, there are a lot of carpet guys there

Shock spacers. Don't go to low or the suspension will suck coming off jumps and it will bounce around.

Right now I have slicks but as of Saturday they will allow pins.

I think it was the AE one I bent but it doesn't really matter they are all basically the same. Its just the side that hooks up to the servo that bends, the other side is fine.

If you put the aluminum ones beside the plastic one its super easy to see why they twist, there is hardly any support for the arm that the servo links hooks into on the aluminum ones compared to the plastic one.

not true....the Avid is the thickest and more durable of the ones on the market. The AE part was weak.

after they revised it, their original was a POS like the rest. But sure I'll give you that, the updated Avid ones are probably ok but all of the rest are garbage.

Just ordered the 3-gear motor plate and gearbox. More stuff to test the next time I get to drive. Also maybe getting the rear aluminum hexes.

do any of you guys replace the pins on the cva's? Or do you just buy new cva's. I remeber reading somewhere that the pins were replaceable. I talking about the the go into the slot at the out-drives. Thanks

edit<cva's were cheap enough I just bought a new set.

I buy straight from the source, sometimes Lunsford is cheaper than mail order places.
