Cool XXX-4

Their are some guys in Dallas that run that. I'll ask them to help. I'm looking to get one too.

I'm one of the guys in Dallas that knows Tex. This is my recommendation for the SS+ 5800: mod mode (profile 2), level 7 drag brake. I don't have help for stock mode. I only ran it in stock mode once.

Novak has a chart online here on how to gear the brushless system: Novak gearing recommendations . They recommend a 21/94. I am guessing the original XXX-4 kit came with a 94 spur. Either way they are still aiming at a 9 to 1 ratio as you can see by the chart below.

We gear a little higher than that at my track because we do 10 minute mains. The higher ratio makes thermal shutdowns less likely. I'm running a 18 pinion 92 spur (default spur) for a 10.73 gear ratio. (Internal drivetrain ratio is 2.10 with default parts according to the manual)

Pinion...92.........94
17.....11.36.....11.61
18.....10.73.....10.97
19.....10.17.....10.39
20.......9.66......9.87
21.......9.20......9.40
22.......8.78......8.97
23.......8.40......8.58
24.......8.05......8.23

If you thermal shutdown you can try adding holes to the body for ventilation or gearing down. If you are only racing 5 minutes then I'd try to start with the Novak recommendations which translates to about a 21/92. If you are playing around gear a little higher.

This car is a lot of fun with mod brushless. I love mine!
