Default Wheels too thin/Spindle too long

I have a Jammin SCRT10 and recently bought a set of Panther Rattlers mounted on DE Borrego wheels so I could get some traction at the local track. When I came home, I noticed the wheels had a lot of play.

Turns out the rims are too thin for the spindle. The wheel nuts physically can't move further down because the threads end, and there's like half a millimeter of space between the nut and the wheel. Has anyone had this issue or been in a similar situation and solved it? Does anyone sell nuts that protrude past the threads maybe?

I just thought about using washers but is that the best solution...

Washers will work as long as you are using nyloc nuts and not serrated nuts. Avid makes 12mm hex shaped spacers that will move the wheels out 1mm. The best (and what seems like the most obvious) thing would be to put thicker hexes on the truck.
