Default Orion VST2 6.5 magnet issue?

HI guys,

I just bought a new Orion VST2 6.5 from a member here. The motor was still in the wrapper.

Anyway, I put it in my 22-4 and hit the track today. Well after literally 10 minutes, buggy would not move. Temp was at 120F. Thought is was a loose pinion but it turned out to be the magnet spinning freely on the shaft. We took it apart and the shaft came off form the magnet easily!!!

Anyway, what are my options? I read here that green Loctite might take care of it?

I could call Horizon Hobby but since I bought from a member here and don't really have a receipt, will I get service?

Thanks,
Steve

If you contact Horizon they will probably just have you send that one back to them and give you a slight discount on a new one. That is what they did when I had a R10 go down that was out of warranty.

Thanks.

What about the green Loctite? Would that work?

I have not heard of that. I know it kind of sucks but I would just contact Horizon. I would probably shoot the seller a message also. Not that they would do anything.

If you can't get real help from Horizon then use one of Loctite 638/640/648.

I had this issue with a new LRP X12 6.5T. So I can confirm you that loctite 648 works fine for this . Be sure to remove the old adhesive with a good degreaser (brake cleaner for example). Inside temps of the magnet doesn't go much beyond 200°C so it give around 50% strength on the loctite (At 400°C it will release).

Thanks for the info, I'll give this a shot first.
