Sounds like you just hit the low voltage cutoff.

Does it charge if you hook it up to the charger?

7.4 is not low voltage. Should be able to go down to 6.6 without issues unless cutoff is set higher. Sounds like the connection in the battery case or connector may have broke loose.
Check battery connector/wire.

Sounds like a bad connection inside the pack. I had a 4S pack do that before. After a somewhat hard flat landing, it shut down. Charger wouldn't recognize the pack and it wouldn't power the esc, but all four cells would read on a stand alone balancer. Never did figure it out, but the only thing that made sense was a bad connection between cells inside the pack.

what kind of plug is on it? Deans / Traxxas?

I would try to replace the plug to see what happens. The Balance lead is what is used to measure voltage, but they main plug is what feeds everything. Even if you voltage test at the plug you can still have a case where it is not making good contact with the male plug on the ESC or charger.

I ran into a lot of this once when I thought could save some $$ on knock off deans plugs.
