Personally, product support and reliability are very valuable to me, and I am willing to pay for it. I didn't list it because the thread is about "budget" servos, and some of my personal choices are above that priceline. I also like to have a servo that can be used in other cars, so I aim high on torque. My 2wd SC has a Hitec 7945TH, they back their products like no other, I have sent in servos several years old with no receipt and had them back with replaced motors etc in under 2 weeks, no questions asked, so I lean towards them now. I also recently got a Protek 130ss for my 4wd buggy, the performance is great so far, the price was reasonable, and I know Amain has always done good by me for support (Amain has even helped me out with the Savox when their own support wouldn't).

It is worth noting IMO that a high speed rating means nothing if the torque isn't well above what you think you need, especially in bigger 4wd cars. I have had slower servos turn the wheels faster than ones rated at a higher transit rate because the faster servo struggled to overcome the resistance of the wheels, slowing it down.

I've been using these for the last 2.5yrs in a 2wd buggy and stadium truck with zero issues. Great servos for less than $20.

a big plus 1. the best deal going on a high speed servo. use on 2 buggies and a sct. race 3 times a week. one failure over the last 2 years. great choice.

BINGO!!!

This is EXACTLY the reason Savox + Spektrum DSM has issues.

+1 for the Futaba BLS451, reasonably priced, more than fast enough and enough torque. If you have an issue after a hard crash it will be the composite first gear, £3 fir a new one. Mine have been running for over two years and still going strong.
If you want a servo to last then get a standard sized servo, seen too many lo profile servos fail no matter what the brand.

My youngest boy has a Solar d770 in his 2wd SCT. I bought it used 3 or 4 years ago for his older brother, who passed it down to him. It has worked well, but doesn't center as well as it used to....but I guess I shouldn't complain. Probably time for a new one

I run the Solar D770 in my B4.2, 22 3.0, B44.2 & T5m and I love them. I have had one fail in my B44.2. That is with about 2 years worth of races on them.

They are out of stock right now, but they are pretty good about getting those things back in stock.

Interesting. I have run Spektrum DSM with Savox 1257tg and a 1258tg in both 2wd and 4wd for several years - no problems. all sorts of different battery brands. esc's all tekin. must be in the install or esc has a weak bec.

I'm sure this has been covered, but the SAVOX 1257Tg is a great piece (looks great too). Lighter weight than some, and super fast. Great piece for a 2WD buggy. They are $59.99 new right now with a one year warranty.

I've had good luck with Bluebird BMS-616MG servos. Great servos and they run $20~$25.

Then you aren't using DSM sport receivers. (Old DSM 2-3 channel "sport" receivers, not 4+ channel receivers or dsm2 receivers) I've tested this and successfully induced brown outs. Hook up a volt meter to the receiver, and watch what happens to the receiver when the system voltage gets down to around 3.5 volts.... The rx will shut off and turn back on....this is a brown out. Dsm2 receivers don't brown out until around 2.8 volts iirc. Thus allowing you to run power hungry servos without the glitch (brown out)

I'm a big fan of KO servos... Their BSX and RSX lines are realy great. I know they're a bit pricey but are worth the investment in the long term, IMHO. Otherwise, KO also released a new cheaper servo that would probably fit your needs, the DSx-1211CHC. Looks good on paper, with good performance for both torque and speed.
