Newbie needs radio help

  • I would like a good stick radio for a losi xxx-4 g+ for under 200 ( transmitter and reciver witt the basics i dont all the fance lcds and such)
  • I don't know many people who use stick radios for RC Cars anymore, so I can't really point you in any direction there. I can however, show you a good pistol grip radio for $100. Check out the JR XR2i. It's a 2 channel AM radio that comes with a Z590M servo and an R125 receiver. You can get it at just about any hobbyshop or online for $99.

For $199 you can get the JR XS3. It's also a pistol grip, but it is a 3 channel synthesized FM radio. No need to buy crystals, since they're already built in. It comes with the Z590M servo, also, but comes with an R135 receiver.

Both have digital trims which help dial in every adjustment for your car. I know there are others, but I like JR stuff. Just a personal preference.
  • thanks
i dont what I was thinking saying stick i must have been somking

thanks tho i have finely found my chrismas present from my mum to me

  • Christmas!?

We're that close!!?? My how the year has gone by.
  • the one for 200 that will work with a novak 5800 system right?

    (im new to all this...)
  • Absolutley! The speed control does not depend on the type of radio you are using. The receiver needs to be compatible with the radio. The servo and speed control plug into the receiver and from there it is simply a matter of arranging wires that are +, -, and signal. You almost never have to change the order of the wires attached at the end of your speed control and servo.

Good luck and enjoy the hobby.
  • I couldn't imagine driving my cars with stick radios. I think they are more suited to R/C planes.

Another good, relatively cheap radio would be the Airtronics FM MX-3 for only $109. It comes with a servo and reciever.

Don't even bother purchasing an AM radio. FM radios are superior and they usually don't cost that much more.

    Here's the MX-3: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXCHA8**&P=ML

  • An FM radio for that cheap!? I think I might have to upgrade. Of course, I'm hoping the wife gets me the Spektrum system for X-mas.
