Default lipo brands

After work I get to go pick up my truck I ordered.
It requires two 2s lipos which I dont have yet.

I was looking at turnigy nanos hardcased 6000mah 25-50c 2s for $38 each online but read some bad reviews about the nano packs.

Are venoms any better?

Would I be better off paying more at the lhs?
This is my first RC.

Venom batteries have a nice down the road exchange program, but you can find many brands that will do the job just as well.

Turnigy Nano packs are fine as a rule and a lot of people do run them. But 25C is not enough if you will doing something like a 4x4 short course or some bruiser of a 4-pole motor.

For the same money, go buy smc batteries. I use them for bashing and racing. Www.smc-racing.net

I use the Nanotech Turnigy Shorty packs for my 2wd buggy no issues at all with them . looks like you are running a 4wd SC yea you need more than a 25c at least a 50c or higher .

They have pretty good punch and not a big drop off on power during a run once they break in you will notice they get better.

Over the years I have bought so many of the different brands, even the ones listed above.

The best "all around" battery that I have used for fun and track days (I'm not a racer) has been the Eco batteries, in the orange case, from A Main hobbies. There 30C 5000mah hard case and cost $35.

They have a long life too, and if you puff them - its only $35.

Just my .02

I ordered 2x of the nanotech turnigys. 6000mah 25-50c is what they are labled.
.
They are for a redcat shredder
I know iknow...lol
I did quite a bit of research on the shredder and figured it would be a good cheap platform to work on.
Im building a front skid/bumper out of metal since the front is the weakspot on these.
.
Its the sct but ordered 3.8 proline trenchers on desperados and a 1/5 scale truck body.

Hopefully the batts i ordered will be ok

Those bad reviews are probably from haters that paid too much for their own lipos and probably have never even owned turnigy nanotech batts.

Between me and a friend we probably have about 15 nano techs and have never had an issue with them. Other people on this website that have used them will chime in with the same experience.

+1 for the Eco batteries. Have had 2 of them for over a year and a half and they are still great batteries. Race with them every weekend.

Also take a look at Vant batteries. Barn Floor Hobbies sell them. Great battery at a great price. I use their shorty packs in my 17.5 buggy and they work great.

Hexfly batteries seem to be a good bang for the buck. I haven't had any issues with them so far.

SMC are great packs have 3 and have decent power.I also run trinity packs for three years and they seem to me to be the better pack. And the ECO packs seem to be better pack and I'm trying them.

Look into Turnigy nanotech A-Spec or Turnigy nanotech Ultimate. These both have a high discharge rate (65C for A-Spec, 90C for Ultimate I think) and are very reasonably priced. I run an A-Spec in my 4wd buggy,my good friend runs Ultimates in his stock and mod 2wd buggies, and neither of us have had any problems with reliability or performance.
