My buddy found this battery brace/holder from exotec, has anyone used it& does it work well with shorty pack?

While others are chasing setup on their XT2, I'm hoping to capitalize on a stable setup with my EXO22T that feels pretty good after just 1 day of practice. I'll know more after this weekend which is the first day our local club will have a dedicated truck class with a pretty good mix of XT2 owners jumping into the class

I couldn't be happier with my EXO22T, basing my assessment with a couple other drivers of nearly the same skill level where they were both running XT2's, I was able to drop nearly the same fast lap times within a hundredth of a second of them throughout the day. Also happy to report my car went through a full day without a DNF... the biggest complaint that the XT2 drivers had were popped ball links suggesting the XRay design might need some improvement. I look forward to running this class more regularly, we had 7 drivers show up yesterday and I can only imagine that the class will continue to grow in my area!

Yeah, we started stadium truck yesterday. For our carpet track, the XT2 (on paper) looks hard to beat. Yesterday, 4 out of 5 guys with brand new XT2 kits had ball cup issues. They pop off easy, yet are incredibly hard to get back on. But until a 22T 3.0 is released, I may have to buy an XT2 and use TLR ball cups or something.

I've been contemplating getting a 22T 2.0, but then I'd need the 3 gear transmission and gear diff at a minimum. I'd really want to go sideways battery, so that's a major modification or the Exotek chassis. I wish they'd just make it easy on me and release a new 22T! ;-)

FWIW, with a dremel tool and a sharp razor blade it only takes about 10-15 minutes to do the sideways battery mod. It's quick, easy, and IMO, worth it.

We had 1 driver in our class with the standard longitudinal battery mount in his 22-2.0 and his fast lap time was 3 tenths faster than my EXO22T, though he's a much better driver than me

He declined my offer to test drive my EXO22T so it's really hard to say one way or the other on how much of a difference the transverse battery option makes other than it really comes down corner balance... pretty sure he had added rear weight ballasts to his car and I didn't have to add any weight to get comparable results.

on my truck I have run 2 saddle batteries like a brick pack and a shorty length ways. My impression is the truck is more reactive and nimble with the shorty length wise. Ive added 28gms on the front for better front end stiction and the brass rear front suspension mount for good balance and it seems to do me well in Mod. haven't really felt the need to try and run the battery transverse.

I was never able to get my EXO22T conversion working the way I'd like. I tried all manner of tinkering at my home carpet track and just couldn't get it right. In the end, I swapped back to the TLR chassis with longitudinal shorty and was happy again.

I attended the Associated Champ race over the weekend and thought I'd give the EXO22T a try on dirt. I used the kit setup and Franks Stock Nationals setup as starting points and struggled to get the truck reigned in. In a last-ditch effort I swapped in the TLR chassis with Frank's setup before the mains and found that to be much, much better. Although I didn't do well in the class, those laps were easily my best of the entire weekend. The truck was much more consistent and controllable.

I think someone who is more adept than me with setups and has a little more time on their hands could get the EXO22T to work. I'll be sticking with the TLR chassis until the 3.0 comes out.

Any reason why this truck is not on horizon hobbies website? I'm looking to buy one but if it has/ or is soon to be discontinued I'd rather hold off. I know it's on amain still but it throws up a flag that it's not on horizon.

It has been discontinued. Frank Root has all but said a new truck will be coming (he makes a couple of brief comments in this thread), but no details or release date. I am just finishing my 22 3.0 buggy and will be after a truck next. If they don't announce one in the next few weeks I will just buy the 2.0 from Amain. The 2.0 at $259 is a good deal, even better if you throw the coupon code in there.

Hey guys - I have noticed that alot of guys are using 4mm trailing spindles. Does anyone know which ones they are using? I do not seem to see any for the 22T 2.0.

Thanks for the help.

22 3.0 spindles and caster blocks. And the 22-4 1.0 aluminum rear hexes. You can use the plastic hexes with a 1mm shim behind the axle.

Does that help with tight 180 degree corners?

with the transverse battery, what is the biggest improvement to the car? weight bias? more weight near the rear of the vehicle?

Anyone know if the gear diff from the RTR kit will fit the mid motor configuration? Wanting to play with gear diff on high bite track. The RTR gear diff looks a little fat in pictures. Any info is appreciated.
