Default 17.5 stock buggy is death slow...

so I have a weird situation...I have a brand new dex210 that I have a phantom racing apex 17.5t motor in and a turnigy trackstar 120a esc. I have the esc set to default settings with no boost for blinky mode and stock racing, but my car is seriously about 3/4 the speed of all the other stock buggies on the track. it does the same thing when I toss in my Speed Passions StockClubRace esc...timing on the motor is set to around 40 and I have a 69t spur/35t pinion setup. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Make sure your radio and esc are properly calibrated. Check your diff to make sure it's not too loose or binding.

Make sure your motor is turning the correct direction, it is possible with the 210.
In other words, building the gearbox with the motor plate on the wrong side. Also try dropping your gearing 2 or 3 teeth.

I have the same setup and had the same issue. It was the bearings that was dragging my buggy down. I run rm4. I took all of the bearings out and de-greased them. Make sure that the diff isnt shimmed too tight and that your gearcase screws arent too tight. It really frees up the gearbox alot. Also you can over drive the esc endpoint to 110% but that didnt do much.

That's what I was thinking too...Maybe some possible binding some where. I had an issue like this before because of a bearing in my transmission case. The temps on my motor were extremely high after a five minute run.

I had the same issue when I had a DEX210 a little over a year ago, it just could not keep up with the other buggies, never could figure it out.

What is your car weighing at? In 17.5 racing 100 grams is noticeable speed wise.

I'm wondering if you aren't about 10 teeth over geared.

This may seem obvious, but try changing your sensor wire, if it is not plugged in or "gone bad" you'll only get 3/4 speed.

Process of elimination!

This may not apply to the trackstar ESC, but on my Hobbyking X-Car 120a esc, my car was noticeably slow with that ESC and the trackstar 17.5t ROAR motor. I flashed the ESC with the hobbywing software and it was like a night and day transformation.

I have the trackstar 80a turbo ESC and that thing, even in blinky makes my stadium truck do wheelies

I have zero experience with your car, motor, or ESC.

You're over geared, unless the track is huge, or that motor is known for insane amounts of torque. How hot is that motor? I was gearing my D4 at 55 degrees of timing in a B5RM and mid motor (Have same trans ratio as your durango car) at 29:69 in the MM, and 32:69 in the rear motor.

In 17.5, 1 tooth on the pinion can make all the difference.
