They seem to be discontinuing vehicles left right and center and not really releasing anything new.... Does anyone know whats going on internally there? Its getting really frustrating waiting for their new kits that never come...

It wasn't that long ago that they released the Worlds Car....then the b5/b5m....then the 44.3....They recently released one of those on road cars, whatever you call em...They're releasing stuff....They're 1/8 scale should be pretty close...

My question regarding AE is what's the going on with them as far as quality control....
After watching that review on the b44.3 , and seeing issues like gears cut wrong n problems with the gear diff....Same thing with the Worlds car. The stealth tranny on that thing was a complete disaster...The case was too tight, the top shaft was machined wrong, the idlers had a high spot on em..A complete mess.
Then lil stuff I see/hear mentioned like the ball cups on the b5.....

But that's like issues ranging from minor to major on all these recent releases..

They gotta step up their game on that front....
Ball cups,ok...but gears n entire transmissions....that's a lil much.

Been an AE fan for a long time and it seems they are pretty much on schedule with things. I'm sure a T5 and a new SC10 is not that far away. Only thing they have been lacking in is their 1/8 scale and 4w SC. I really hope they release a new 1/8 buggy and a DECENT 4wd Sc.

Sure they've been releasing "stuff"- But really, the worlds car? Nice build for throwbacks sake but kind of a useless rc, B5's are new and thats nice, the onroads are all rehash's and they release a lot of "qualifier" crap, the b44.3 was just the same ol same ol with some hop ups. Go through thier vehicle line up and with the exception of the B5 its all pretty much qualifier thunder tiger stuff, or really old stuff that they have made a couple changes to.

If kits are being discounted... you can bet discontinued soon, and a replacement model to follow soon after. That's my bet. What in particular are you referring to?

for example, why did they stop the 1/8 short course sct8e ? is it because it never became a new racing class ? ( 1/8 short course )

Just everything seems to be right at that point where its out dated. Other then the B5 of course. Their onroads might be ok, im not an onroad guy so i cant tell for sure. The sc10 4x4 was a nice truck but its gone now and i dont forsee it coming back (hope to be wrong), the Rival is ok but nothing to get excited over, all the thunder tiger stuff is entry level. The RC8 and Rc8t desperately need a redesign and I know thats coming but who knows when, then add another 6 months to a year for the truggy.

The minis are too frail for what people demand for minis nowadays, need a replacement, t4 needs a replacement sc10(b) needs a replacement. Mgt hasnt been touched since the 8.0 came out which was a bit of a disappointment. I just haven't seen anything to get excited about come from AE in a long time other then the B5 and maybe the rival if it weren't for the poor electronics.

Sorry the B44.3 looks alright too but it sounds like it still has some big flaws that should have been fixed seeing as its a old platform.

Sales probably never took off. Maybe they are giving it steroids so it can compete with the Losi 5T?

Let's hope they are not following Kyosho's lead and discontinue a kit and wait almost if not one year before announcing its replacement.

As far as I know from a source who works for AE, since they have been purchased by Thunder Tiger they are re-structuring. What I don't wanna see is more of the TT stuff being used by AE like in the ProLite SCT. This would make they're products cheaper. I've been a fan of AE since the mid 90's and I'm hoping that they will still bring out quality RC cars and trucks.

IMO the hyperactive culture of racing is to blame, at least partially. I only mess with 8th scale, but in 8th scale, you have to have something "new" every 6-8 months, regardless if the novelty is really an improvement. What matters is novelty for its own sake. It makes the hobby eat its own tail. I think AE probably just made some mistakes as well.

It is a shame about their 8th scale line-up. They used to have everything - buggy, truggy, and SC, kits and RTR's, nitro and electric. The obsession with racing though, and the obsessiveness of racing, seem to have changed the industry, forcing all bashing to the side, to feed the novelty monster.. AE got lost in the flux I think and couldn't keep up... I'm becoming an old man, but the good ole' days of basher MT's, in which the SC8 was a cool addition, are gone. Now all that seems to matter is some stupid 10th scale racing buggy - and a new version of it too probably every 8-10 months...

Couldn't agree more...

I don't dislike 10th scale buggy but it's the tracks are moving to as well.

You do realize you're talking about a company who's first vehicle was targeted directly to the racer, right? It remained that way for over a decade before any "basher" vehicles came from them. I'd argue that they need to drop the non race vehicles and refocus on the race market (along with Losi) but they want that money.
