I was also searching for this information. What I found:
RTR
XP SC200 digital electronic forward/reverse speed controller
17T brushed motor
blue anodized shocks
RS
XP SC700 Brushless Speed Control
Reedy 3300 KV Brushless Motor
water-resistant enclosed receiver box
blue anodized aluminum V2 coil-over shocks
JConcepts Subcultures(green) rear tires
Other than that I couldn't find any other differences.
The RS is a much better deal considering the esc/motor combo and the rear tires.
I don't think the shocks are very different.
For general bashing the RS is the ticket.
If you are wanting to race, skip both and go for the Factory Team Kit.
The RTR and RS esc/motor combos will both need replaced anyway unless you want to run the RS in 2wd mod class and run in the back. The 3300kv motor is inbetween a 17.5 and 13.5, speed and power wise.

at my local track we don't have a stock or mod. Class it's just 2wd sct but wouldn't a team kit end up being way more expensive I don't have any electronics or radio at this time

Building a kit will be more expensive but if you buy the RTR you will put WAY more money into than what the cost of the kit is if you plan on upgrading it.
I made that mistake once with a b4. I bought the RTR and ended up putting way too much money into it just so it would come close to handling like the FT version.
If it were me, I'd buy the kit.

I would buy the RS, you're going to want brushless. Good advice above, if you really get into this hobby, you're going to wish you bought the Factory Team kit. It's nice to pick all your options. If cost is a big factor look at the for sale forum on here and you can find great deals!

#2 the rs come with good rear tires(not the best but good)
#3 the rc come with hex hubs so you can run the same rim on the back and front(same as the sc10 4x4) + the hub is less likely to strip even if you forget to tighten the nut. and if you do strip out a rear rim you can just put it on the front.
the rest of the truck i think is the same. and you can put rs stuff on the stock rtr but it will cost you more in the end but cheaper up front. just look how much the rs hub/jconcepts subcultures/and a brushless system are/ and rims for the new hubs. it just a hobby that cost less and better to get what you need first then to upgrade.

I would look for a deal on a FT roller then go to hobbyking and get your electronics.
FT roller 200
80amp ESC 36
Tx/ Rx 45
Motor 27
Battery 27
Charger 50
Servo 27
400 give or take a couple but the battery and charger you would have to buy anyways. So you take that 77 off the top and you're maybe 30 bucks more than an RTR but way ahead of the game.
Oh by the way I just happen to have a FT SC10.2 for sale, 200 shipped. Much better route than RTR.
