Grinding noise while testing slipper

My novak ESC went out on my so I decided to throw my old reedy ESC in until the new ESC comes in. Now when I go to adjust my slipper on my losi 22 2.0 by holding the rear wheels in place and blipping the throttle, the front end wont lift and it's making a grinding noise (not a high pitch squeal). If I loosen the slipper a half turn or so i'll get the high pitch squeal but the front end still wont lift from the table. Is it possible that the ESC could be causing this or did something get messed up in the tranny?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

It's most likely the diff skipping. You will probably need new rings and or balls if it feels a bit gritty now.

Yea, I took it apart to take a look at it and it's in need of replacement. I'll pick one up at the LHS and rebuild.
