If you got the trackstar ESC, be aware that you need the trackstar programming box also. The hobbywing box won't work with the trackstar. But it will work with the hobbyking unit.

can you flash the HW programmer to trackstar firmware? That probably would make it trackstar specific at that point, but good to know none the less.

Good question, I have not tried that...might be a viable solution.

This is good advice. When you go even to a 13.5, its a whole different world. I race stock and mod on the same day (10.5 in mod) and it's very different.

Consider thinking of them as being closer to the same. If you changed something dramatically on your bike, enough that it took you a while before you were able to ride as well as before, you'd get frustrated, no?

If you buy a 13.5 motor and a speed control with dynamic timing capabilities you can start a little faster and then add timing/gearing changes to make it fly later. If you go straight to the big motor it may be a while before you can drive it well again.

I can confirm this... dissapointing. I installex the motor n esc tonight and just ran it down the street on stock esc settings. Wow... so much more motor than stock 17.5. Should be entertaining at the track.

I am going to look into this. As of right now the box wont even recognize the esc.

yeah, that is pretty much what we Speed Passion Guys did when the speed passion branded programmer, the one that looked the same as the HW one went out of stock or was hard to get.

I actually like the feel of the HW one as it felt more sturdy.
