Proline Lightweight wheels too thin?

Put a hole in my 1/8 scale buggy wheel pretty quick with these new lightweight wheels while this car has only seen track and not much thus far. Is this gonna be the norm cause I don't think I'll be getting these wheels again as Proline has gone a little too far sacraficing strength here. Keep it to 1/10 scale but we need strength and durability as priority with 1/8 scale as this is the reason many of us pay the scratch to be in this scale class.

If you want "strength and durability as priority with 1/8 scale" why would you buy lightweight wheels?? :weird::weird::weird:

Many of the top drivers use these wheels without issue, as do I. That said the v2 wheels are a little tougher if youre having issues

Stop hitting things.

Lightweight = sacrifice durability for faster lap times.

That wheel looks beat to shit.i would say that's the wheels fault looks like it's been riding the wall for 20-30 laps

:lol::lol::lol:

The lightweight wheel uses a stronger but more brittle plastic.

It doesn't flex as much but the down side is it cracks and chunks like what you have there..

Like tungsten and carbide..... Very strong but brittle as hell.

 It looks like hell. I just got back into outdoor and I have much to improve. This is my first lightweight wheel and at the time thought Proline was heading this way with all their wheels. I stand corrected, thnx.

I have the same wheels and tires. They look like shit very quick. They just show the scratches a lot. Especially in white.

I have not experienced any issues with durability tho. Just cosmetic. I like the idea of more flex in the wheel when the track is very loose and traction is low.

Cool, sounds like good product, wrong application for myself being not quite ready for high speed low drag products. Thanks for information everyone and setting me straight.

X that. and more like 200-300 laps Although the tire doesn't look so bad.

Honestly I don't like the LW wheels either. I have a couple that have cracked the dish after a 5 min qual.

What are your now running?

....... been out of 1/8 scale for a while and coming from indoor short course of recent, can appreciate the added attention instead of ripping through the track like a pinball machine with it's quick recovery of tucked wheels vs open wheel driving. All toys, all good.

Hoese37 09-12-2014 07:03 AM

Im running the regular PL wheels.

HighRevz 09-12-2014 05:20 PM

Gonna try the con-caved Avid Truss wheels so you guys can't tell how much I hit the pipe as much lol
