If it matters. I run my serpent mid 99 percent stock. After the stock diff got to gritty mostly from me and 8 races later I put a bfast diff in it. Besides that I run red and blue springs and that it is. Like the b5 the other option parts are just for bling.

My vote is the Serpent for all the reasons already stated. For a solid affordable esc you cant beat the Hobbywing Just Stock for $50. There are a lot of the top guys in stock racing running these. Very smooth and fast. For a motor get a Trinity D4 Maxzilla 17.5 and your set for the track and capable of winning the A main at your club level or any race really.

It seems that the Serpent Spyder SRX-2 comes with graphite shock tower. Does it make it more durable than the Team Associated offering?
