Has anyone ever calculated total amp draw?

Running 1/8th scale buggy, is there any way to truelly determine total amp draw from motor, esc, servos, reciever, transponder. Can this be calculated properly to determine actual safe run time?

Charge the battery. run the car for a fixed time (pausing the timer when you crash), re-charge the battery. The amp hours it takes to refill it divided by the number of hours (or fraction thereof) is the average amp draw.

Example: Run for 10 minutes, battery takes 4000 mAHr to refill => 4 amp hours divided by .166666 equals 24 amps average.
