Default reedy motor.solder tabs

i have 17.5 reedy mach 2 and have heating issue not due to gearing and new truck..question solder tabs on motor seem loose would that be causing excessive heat..not solder joint tabs itself..bearings good, drive train free..
running blinky mode 24 76 gear ratio on 40 x 50 track.

thanks

The solder tabs just wiggle a bit in the reedy motors.

I have had quite a bit of issues with Reedys lately. I have seven of them and only 2 feel solid in performance. I have a 9.5 and 17.5 mach 1 that both feel extremely slow even when geared and timed identical to other guys running the same car. I have 2 7.0, 2 7.5 and a 17.5 mach 2. the 17.5 feels gutless and runs hot as he!!. I have a 7.5 and 7.0 that have had heat and sensor problems, i think those two were due to a faulty sensor wire, that was the only common link between the two. The 17.5 mach 1 has solder tabs that feel like they are about to fall off. I think I'm going to take a buddys advice, until one lets me down I'm going to buy the cheap trackstar motors.

Well the trackstar motors are just copied reedy designs. I don't know why it would be any better.

There are other motor brands, besides reedy that make good products.

No problems with speed or heat with any current and previous motors and it has been hot and muggy as he'll here. Have you called AE about it?

I had taken the 7.5 that was messed up with me to the surf city race and asked Brent Thielke to look at if he had time. He said it was a sensor board issue. The motor works now but is loud, spins like crazy when you spin it by hand. It felt like the exact same issue with 7.0, switched sensor boards and still no good. Oh well it's part of the fun.

changed motors in mine same gear ratio and temps in check.must be bad bearing or sensor board? but bearings seemed good ..last time i ran the temp was good.board goes bad from sitting several months?

well i'll try in my 2wd buggy see if it heats up.

You sound under geared, 24/76 seems awfully low, I ran 35/69 in my dex210 with the same internal ratio, that's a crazy difference.

Is there a way to tighten the solder tabs back up? I have 2 8turn reedy sonics and only one has an issue with the center tab being loose. Doesn't seem to affect performance but I'd rather have it spot on. I'm afraid they will touch if let go

How hot are you calling "Excessive"?
I agree sounds under geared, but not sure. What are you running it in?
