Default Opinions Please - Getting Back Into Bashing

I'd like some opinions on what are good RTRs to buy for offroad bashing. I've been racing onroad and offroad for years. My schedule has forced me to retire from racing so I'd like to get something to play with, around the house. I've mostly owned race buggies, trucks, touring cars and pan cars so I don't know much about all purpose offroaders.

I'd like an RTR. I have about $400 +or- to spend. Has to have some speed and handle terrain. I have batteries and a charger, so that's no big deal. I'm looking at the different rock racer models but I don't know whether they're very fast. I had a Nitro Savage once, I really liked it buy the nitro was too much work for me.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

to be honest if looking at electric, other than a monsterized truggy I have to say the kyosho mad force or that new FO-XX looks interesting to me with the dual solid axles and pretty powerful setup it seems to have, assuming vids are of it stock online.

I traded a guy some stuff for a stampede 4x4 and I have to say that it is the most fun rc I own. I threw a castle sidewinder sct system in it and it's been awesome. Tough as nails and parts are at any hobbyshop if you happen to pop a shock cap off (the only thing that has broke on mine after numerous jumps and cartwheels)

Agree a Stampede would be a nice choice. runs preaty fast with 3s lipo and its in your price range. It also have decent durability. I have so that's y I recommend it
