The Reedy sonic 2 has plenty of torque and is legal at all big races. The trinity purple motor is popular to but not legal at most races, just for club nights. Those are the two most popular at my track

The Trinity D3.5 is very popular but not ROAR legal. The Killshot Maxzilla is a great option too.

R1 Wurks with no additional timing. Lots of torque and can be geared high and still comes off fairly cool.

Reedy Sonic or Schuur Speed would be my top 2 picks.

There are 2 types of 17.5 motor. Rpm and torque motor, if you are running the Sc you would want the torque motor. The Killshot Beast (double torque) by "Express motorsports" are awesome, it's Revtech motor and it has torque 12.5 rotor and stator. ...roar legal as well.

My dad has always preferred the original trinity revtech 17.5 in his stock SC10.He got a good deal on a lightly used mach 2 reedy but it just never had the pull that the revtech does through the low and middle rpm ranges. The reedy also ran hotter and it always seemed like it was pushing the edge of blowing up if you ran more than 5-6 minutes even with lower gears and lower manual timing. The reedy was pretty comparable top speed wise though. My vote goes for the trinity revtech it's been a workhorse motor in my dad's truck and has some good rip!

I am running the Hobbywing extreme stock, and/or Stock Spec ESCs(blinky) with the Hobbywing V10 17.5 motor, and I am just as fast as the guys with the D3.5 motor.(actually been faster than some when they didn't have their gearing right.) And I come off the track at 135-140 even after a 10min main. If I am reading the can right, I have 41 degrees of timing added. Range is 20-50. Running 24/78 p/s in a SC10.2. And its Roar legal according to their site.

Now its just a matter of driving.

Yeah, the V10 is a strong stock motor. Like the tekin gen 2 and reedy motors, they come with a 12.5mm rotor.

As far as ROAR legality, last time I checked ROAR's website, it had passed their testing and they were waiting on availability (the motor has to be for sale at like 2 or 3 different sites forget which, and it is so I never understood the hang up).
