Default Help with getting an new electric rc car?

I need the best eletric waterproof rc car. I also need it to get as fast or faster than 50 mph out of the box. My uncle has a traxxas e revo. Something like that. Any ways I need one that's way faster than that his. Be nice to be able to drive both road and land. Thanks for the help

50mph is a tall order for an off-road vehicle...very few will come close to that. Expect to spend some serious cash. Your best bet for getting that kind of speed with something that can go both on and off road would be a 1/8th buggy. As for waterproof...well that is going to be in what electronics you decide to use. The receiver you can seal up in a balloon but the ESC you'll need to find one that is already waterproof. If you try and balloon the ESC it will likely melt the balloon. And you'll need to find a waterproof servo. Off the top of my head I don't know of any ready to run cars that come with waterproof electronics.

Since you want it to go off-road too...this should probably be in the electric off-road section.

If you want an rc that performs like an Erevo....get an Erevo.

^^ this.

However, if you don't want an E-Revo, but want the specs you listed, you're looking at a seriously expensive machine, and it won't be rtr.

To give you a general idea:

An 1/8 truggy or buggy of some sort (such as http://www.mugenseiki.co.jp/mugen/spec-mbx-7t_eco_e.htm - ~$550) - don't get a crappy car, it needs to be decent quality to handle the speed you're looking at, and I'm betting you'll be hitting things too.

An ESC/MOTOR combo capable of Handling 6s Lipo (such as http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...a_monster2.htm ~$350) - you need a good motor for 50mph+, and good motors aren't cheap.

Waterproof servo (most of the high torque ones aren't water proof, so it shouldnt be more than ~$50 - given that, don't expect perfect performance out it)

Reciever/radio (doesn't really matter, but lok to spend ~$100+ for a decent quality one -http://www.amain.com/index.php/cPath/61_3540_119/n/Radios-Accessories-Transmitters-Surface - pick one that suits your budget, they don't affect top speed and doesnt need to be waterproofed, use a ballon as mentioned)

Batteries (6s Lipo - probably 2x 3s, http://www.amain.com/index.php?cPath...rh&filter_mfr= get a name brand and you'll be fine ~$200 +) - note: you should be looking at 6000mah + at least for a half decent run time.

Also, you'll be wanting to gear up the rc you buy if you want to "go faster than 50mph." This means you'll have to watch motor temps.

That's well over $1k for that. Easy.

The E-Revo is a GOOD car. It was designed for a specific customer, and that customer is people like you and your uncle. Trying to find something BETTER is difficult unless you look at serious cash; why? cos you are competing with something designed specifically for what you want.

Other RTR options that will do 50mph+ (but aren't waterproof):
http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...-w-24GHz-Radio
http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...-w-24GHz-Radio

Note, neither come with batteries; to do 50mph+, you will need 2x 3s Lipos, at around $100 each, so add $200 to the price of those.

Something you should know about RC; with well known name brands (Traxxas, HPI, Associated, Mugen, Kyosho, etc.), You get what you pay for.
Also note NOTHING in rc cars is truly water proof; no matter how much you spend, a car is a car, not a boat.

Get the E-Revo; it does it's job well, and the alternative is well over $1k. Parts are strong, and very easy to find.

The e-revo will do 60+mph, if you get something like the traxxas rally or LCG slash, you'll be able to hit slightly sell top speed but far ore stable, you can't really drive a e-revo much over 40mph safely. That would be my vote, but nothing beats a nice 1/8 truggy for bashing, a customer (I work at a huge hobby store) just got a et48 and its much nicer then his tekno d8t, and he loves the thing, silly fast with a tekin 1550kv/6s set up and very strong, hasn't broken it yet, the d8t wasn't so lucky. You'd need the castle system to be waterproof and savox makes some decent WP servo's, having fun is all a function of money
