haha, 3d printed arms.....that sounds like it would fail. The 3D materials for the public are no quite there. will be cool when they are. will change this hobby forever.

so how long until the SC5 comes out? Historically, what is the gap between the ST release and the SC release.

They are actually fairly robust...he gets them printed in nylon from shapeways...they same set of arms has lasted him quite a long time...3 months or so I would guess. Which for 3d printed isint too bad...He is now millling arms out of delrin and has been toying with the idea of printing molds and casting arms.

Either way his prototype T5M performs extremely well...makes me excited for the factory one!

Anybody else seeing a gas truck when you look at the T5M? I mean the front end is similar to a GT2. Slap a top deck on, find a nitro sedan tank so a battery could fit underneath, 3 gear Tranny? Boom! pretty much there..

The guys in the vintage world that build the replica 91 prototype stealth are using 3d printed parts. and no issues, even custom B2/3 cars with 3d printed parts from shapeways. (steering, c hubs, arms, rear arm mounts bulkheads) and hold up well. for racing cars they use a different print thats a bit stronger and more money.

I'm thrilled to see this truck out now. I was at the midwest champs in ohio at this exact time last year and the b5 platform had just been announced. I asked Ryan Cavalieri if they would be making the truck to go along with it and he said they would definitely be doing one but not sure when. Now it's exactly a year later and the truck is making it's debut (I believe) at the exact same race we were talking about it. Lol

Had been wanting to grab a T4.2 and maybe convert to mid, but had heard the rumblings here in SoCal about the T5m being not too far off. Glad I waited! Pre-ordered

I had the original RC10T when it first came out (skinny front tires). I raced at RCH in Costa Mesa. Regular racers there were Lett, Kinwald, Pavadis, etc. Watched mother effin' Masami (!!) race Reedy Races there back in the day. Hahahha... so crazy to think about now. I was young and in Jr High.

Sorry. The T5m has me excited and reminiscent

I run 3D printed parts on my RC10. You're right that with the same dimensions that a 3D printed arm will be weaker. Material should always be taken into account with design. To make an arm that is truly useful, it has to be thicker in some places. The material is so light that a dimensionally larger arm may not weigh anymore than a stock molded one. Another option is the added on carbon stiffener plate like XRAY offers for their arms. A 3D printed part can work just fine if you design it around those material properties.
