Starting to race my Rustler...need a bumper
 

This is so simple, I hate to post it.

I have a Rustler that I am starting to race. It has no rear bumper, and the very small stock front bumper. I'm just looking for protection from collisions with other trucks.

I'm looking at the T-Bone rear bumper, the protection for the motor looks great. An ok choice?

For the front, I was also looking at the T-Bone, but I don't really want something that will double as a garden spade. Do they (or the RPM) offer decent protection without being in the way?

Bumpers in racing will hurt you mor than help you.

Running into car with or without a bumper will still suck. Just try your best to not hit anyone. Bigger bumpers tend to dig in, when you nose down to much on jumps

Gotcha. Kind of wondered if no bumper would be better overall.

What about rear motor protection? Live without it...or is there a better solution than a massive rear bumper or the (ugly, in my opinion) Slash rear bumper?

No bumper is needed at all. The motor is pretty well protected by the trans case.

I'm guessing you are running in Rookie/Open right now? Generally there are more collisions there than in some of the other classes as bumping (While fun) doesn't make anyone faster and breaks more parts. A small bumper might not be a bad item (both the TBR and the RPM bumpers are great) but they shouldn't give you an excuse to run into other cars.

I am new to racing, which starts this weekend. I have been out there for several practice days - and have been advised that at least a rear bumper is recommended.

I do not hit others, I do my best to avoid other vehicles...but I have been rear ended during a practice day by a 1/8th truggy. Didn't know if some protection on the rear was common/necessary, or of the stock transmission setup protects the motor well enough.
