Most shortys are maxed out as far as cell dimensions vs case dimensions. That
means ever minor swelling of the cells is going to puff the case. You can do it
but you run the risk of puffing the batteries.

It depends on the quality of your batteries and how much amp draw your electrics will pull. I run 70c SMC 4700mah shorties in my E-buggy without any problems. Never puffed a cell.

You shouldn't have a problem running them in your truggy as long as they have a decent C rating (40+). Has been done before to help cut down weight and does help. However you will have shorter run times generally as shorty's don't have the same max capacity (mah) as stick packs.

Typically if you run a shorty in your truggy, you run 4 of them; 4s2p - 2 sets in parallel then series so you run 4s, but double the mAH and "c" rating. None of those packs will last very long with just a single pair in series (4s)

Ah, havent seen that configuration much, mostly 2 in series to get 4s and cut down on weight. Not sure if that would be possible in the dex408t or the serpent where they are set up as saddles.

yes you can do that and it will work well. Running 4s doesn't draw as much current as many think, they draw considerably less then a 4x4 sc on 2s. Running 2 quality shorty packs will work well for a light weight set up. Some companies also make a shorty 4s pack for single pack cars (I know SMC makes a 4600mah 4s shorty, not sure who else)

Sorry yes.. saddle packs they were, I went back and checked the pic's. Dual saddles on each side so 4s as noted just all packs in series. I guess this is nice if you drive the desc410, dex410 so you can have all the same packs if you want to conserve.
