Default Blue tire, green tire, pink tire ...oh me oh my????

I am a noob and don't get this. I race at rattlesnake in redding and have not had a chance to ask so I thought I would look here and could not find anything. Of course a specific title to search is hard to come up with. I am asking this because I am building a SCT and have to buy tires. Most of my purchases are online and I don't want to buy the wrong tire.

So here is the question to those that are in the know,

What does the color mean?

and

What surface are they good for?

Color is the rubber compound.
Best thing to do is call your track and ask what tire works best and what compound. Every track is different so what may be the best tire and compound at my tracks may not be the best at yours.

I wish all companies would use same color specific tho....
medium =yellow, soft=blue, super soft=green, mega soft=black, clay=pink
It would make life easier.

True, rc is not one of the leading industries in getting everyone on the same page.
Every tire will give you soft, super sort, clay or whatever along with the color though so just disregard the color if you want.

Dave, you are building a 4wd sct right? You will want M3 Blockades for our track. Don't buy any others. Here is a link to where you can get them: http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...-Truck-Tires-2

The colors refer to the hardness of the compound. There is no industry standard for this it is brand specific. For instance JConcepts clay compound for years was Gold while a similar ProLine compound is Pink and AKA just calls it Clay.

It will all come down to what is right for a specific track and the conditions. Best bet is to ask at the track where you race what most people are using.

Sounds like the track owner, soft (m3) compound proline blockades. The AKA enduro's are similar as well if you're anti proline, most companies have an equivalent if you have a brand of choice
