Charging receiver packs, making the connection
I am starting my foray into nitro monster trucks, and my new vehicle is going to be coming with a receiver pack.
I will need to wire up a jumper from the receiver to my charger, and wanted to know is there anything I need to look out for? (ie- use certain wire gauge, charge rates etc ). Thanks. |
On my gt I don't use a switch, just deans plugs and charge directly to the batt plug using a male plug with wires soldered onto it. On my 1/8 where everything isn't exposed I soldered wires and plug onto the switch wires so that I can turn the switch off and plug into my homemade harness and charge the batt without unplugging anything.
I just use the same guauge wire as the batt comes with. Using bigger is not a problem. I charge at between 1.5 and 2 amps depending on how much of a hurry I'm in. But 1 amp or less would be easier on the batt. I use a .05 peak detect. A charge lasts quite awhile. I used to get a whole raceday out of a charge until I went with digital servos. They eat the batt and I recharge after third qualifier now. |
