B5m vs serpent spyder srx-2 mm

I cant decide whether to get a b5m or a serpent spyder mm. They are priced about the same so i would like to hear some reviews from people who have driven them. Also a side by side comparison by someone who has driven them both would be awesome.

I have not driven the B5M, however I have the Serpent MM and have had great results in a low to medium traction indoor track on clay. Rear grip is never an issue for me and the quality of the Serpent is better than the AE in my opinion.

I briefly owned a B5M, then just switched to Serpent MM over the past week. I'm not a pro driver, just a regular guy who enjoys club racing at the local track. In my opinion so far, the Serpent definitely allows me to drive faster. It is a well designed car and I think it is a better choice in terms of quality and design over the B5M. BUT...the B5M will have the best parts support and more guys run Associated, period. If I was in your position, I would look at two things: parts availability and what cars are popular at your track. Serpent is getting fairly popular around here in SoCal, and more places are starting to stock parts, including amain, which is why I chose Serpent. If you live in an area where everyone is running AE and you would be the only guy with a Serpent, go B5M. It helps to have support of local drivers who have the same car and local shops that sell parts. Just my two cents.

Either would be a great choice as they are both designed mid motors. I will say I had a B5RM and went BACK to a serpent rm. I am planning to purchase a serpent mm as well. I currently live in whats becoming serpent country being that Billy Easton is a local who races with us, but more so because the car is a great performer, and the durability/quality is un touchable.

You must remember that the b5m has only been out for a few weeks now, and there really hasnt been much time to figure out setups that work extremely well. I personally do not own a b5m as we are switching to outdoor season, but of the ones I have driven they are very well sorted and have some great corner speed.

A guy here has a serpent mm as well and does well with it, but I have only driven the rm so I cannot really compare the mid versions.

Now that it's been a few more months, any one else have any feedback? I have a B5M now that I really like but am thinking about trying a Serpent MM as well.

I switched from a tlr 22 2.0 3 weeks ago to a B5M. Best build, buggy I've owned in 25 years. I will say owning any MM will take a different approach in driving and tuning, however.

Just the other day watched a b5 & Serpent take it out back of Trcr on the rail road tracks ...

Not pretty, the b5 beat the Serpent into a bloody mess .
We had to call for a ambulance...
:ha:

They both drive well. I run for serpent so a little biased. Bunch of guys drive the b5m at out track and we seem pretty equal. But I think the serpent has a little more rear traction

Agree !

I've owned both.....I race a serpent MM!

If you have local parts support the serpent is a better kit out of the box hands down.....

you dont have to go get new front and rear arms plus a new shock tower....its doesnt EAT front axle bearings........new updated chassis is super durable.

Really like my serpent buggy !

but if you're gonna be the odd man out.....and there isnt any parts support your better off getting a B5M and dialing it in!
