Motor temperature stickers?

Has anyone seen these? I got one from the guy who is making them. He races at the same track as I do. Its pretty cool. When you come off the track all you need to do is pop the body off and you can see what temp the motor is. The little squares light up red as the temperature goes up.

Just thought Id share since this little thermometer sticker isn't something I've seen before. Pretty innovative IMO. Beats the heck out of my temp gun for convenience.

Looks cool to me!

great idea. hope they stay accurate.

So far it looks pretty close to the same as my temp gun. I actually have 2 temp guns and they give me slightly different readings by about 10 degrees. The temp strip is reading about the same as my more expensive gun. Only been using it for a couple race days so far, but I like it. Probably gonna get more of them for my other cars.

I don't even care if it's dead nuts accurate. As long as it gives me an indication if something is going wrong or temps are getting out of control.

Good idea. I've seen this type of thing employed on other types of sport/industry and it never occurred to me that we could use it like this. I'll be picking up some for sure - even if accuracy is a bit in question it'll still show when the motor has got a bit hot!

They used to make them for fish tanks.

We use them in the OR. Granted they don't go up to 200 degrees but if it's accurate enough to keep your fish from boiling or you freezing or overheating in surgery, probably does a great job on an electric motor.

Little pricey though.

Awesome other than it covers the motor etching... :P

It would be the bright red one.

The whole sticker is black when its cold. As the motor heats up and reaches the different temperature increments the squares turn red indicating the temperature. Super simple to read. Just like a regular thermometer.

Like these? http://www.mcmaster.com/#temperature...ickers/=r4yn1p

Used them for years as a means of double checking the temp gauges and trouble lights on full size race cars.

Hmm 1 for $10 or 10 for $12, which one should I go with? :p

Yea, I've used those to monitor machinery in the past as well.

The difference is that the mcmaster stickers change and never change back so you would need to put a new sticker on every run. These stickers change back when it cools down and work over and over again. They reset themselves every run once the motor cools down again.
