Default Can I use my NiMH 3000 battery in my starter box?

Have just bought a new truck & am using a starter box to get it started. The chap at the shop told me that I would have to use a lower spec battery in the starter. I have a 3000 & he sold me a 1800. He says that my 3000 will just eventualy blow my starter box. Is this true? Or was he just trying to sell me a new battery?

Hmmmmmm, never heard that one before......You'de want both packs to be the same mah but the 3000's should just start the car more times than the 1800 before it needs charging. Does your lhs guy know anything about the cars and hobby or does he just sell stuff? I don't know why he would think that unless he thinks the box runs all the time. If that's what he's thinking a 7ah jell cell would really freak him out.

Lol.....yes, I think he does know what he's talking about. But I know a little about electronics & I just presumed the 3000 just held more amps, ergo, it would just last longer than the 1800, and keep going longer than the 1800.

Oh well, you live & learn, don't like being ripped off you see! But then who does.

It shouldn't be a problem....I'm using 2 3300's in my box.

take the 1800 back and ask if he'll exchange it for another 3000.

the capacity is just like a gas tank. the more the capicity the more run time, not any more power. i have used 3000 and 3300 in starter boxes with no prob.

Lol....yep, a kin to homer, except with a british accent & an obsession with HPI MT's. Has a pretty quirky giggle aswell. Lovely guy though, honest.
