Default Slash conversion or new roller?

I have 2 slash 4x4 but I want to start racing. Most of the guys at the track I'd race at seem to have losi or associated rtr or kits that they've built/modded.

My question and recent dilemma is should I use a chassis conversion kit and the stock brushless esc. Or should I buy a kit and just build a truck up?

I got into the slashes cheap if it makes a difference, right now I'm thinking about an strc chassis kit, but can't make up my mind.

Any help would be appreciated

Go with the STRC kit it's a great buy. Also pick up some losi scte shocks off ebay. Then put a HW sct pro and a HW 4000kv motor in it, a good servo and you have a great truck. Oh and one more thing make sure you put the center diff in it and sway bar kit. All that is gonna run you around $300.

I know it sounds like a lot but your gonna spend 400-450 on a tekno or losi roller then have to buy motor, esc, servo, and big packs like 7200mah to make mains. So you will end up putting 700 to get going.

Itll be cheaper in the long run to just buy a new kit.

Not really. The slash is a very capable platform especially with the STRC chassis. And he already the truck

Don't waste any more time or money on the slash; new or used, get a roller. Desc410, tekno or losi all will do you better than the best slash. The desc410 v2 needs rpm front arms and McMaster inner hinge pins to be bulletproof the others are solid out of the box.

I have a $1000 2wd slash still not near as fast as my SC10.2! Don't waste your money buy a dedicated race truck!

See i dont know how serious you are about racing. If you are SERIOUS i would say go with a new kit because you going to put all that money into your slash but then evently be held back becasue the slash is not completely a racing car.

IF NOT SO SERIOUS i would say just upgrade the slash if its cheaper than and new kit. I mean when i say cheaper i mean atleast 100$ cheaper if you dont save more than 100$ i would say just get a new kit.

Take the truck you have in current form. Learn to race. Then buy a better truck when you move out of the rookie class. Dont spend any money right now on upgrades or kits.
