He didnt ask for suggestions on tire sauce. He asked if WD40 will cause abnormal tire wear and yes it does. But no matter what you use to get traction, it will cause more tire wear than not using anything. WD40 is definitely cheaper than the overpriced tire sauces available though.

I hear in colorado they have some new "dope" that works really well
I know you said you want more traction but have you taken a look at your tire choice/rubber compound recently? From what I have seen there is usually 1-3 tires that just work at a particular location and no matter what you do with another option just wont have the same results. I think traction compound has its uses but can also act as a band-aid for incorrect tire choice/setup issues.

Lol dope on tires ?
Na i use Sticky Kicks traction compound on carpet, dirt . Really helps with warn tires that would be crap if you dint use any sauce = more use out of the tires .
WD40 no and i would think it would collect a insane amount of whatever is on the ground even when dry.

wd40 wears out a track, and eventually will make the track have even less traction. we just went through this out my local track, result: no more sauce (dope).

I have too many pairs of Losi X3000 pink compound from my last track (left over). I bought these for the track that no longer in business. And, I don't want to waste them. Now, the new track that I go to, they are using J-Concepts Barcode stuff.....
Indoor, clay, medium bite track. So, I just want to use what I have. My ride is Losi 22MM. Thanks again
BTW I see some pro drivers use this: Model Cleaner CONCEPT CLEAN from RB Concepts or similar....

I can vouch for this. Two seasons ago, back when we had an indoor clay track and we all ran slicks, everyone got on a WD40 kick. Yes it works for traction and it did wear out the rubber quite a bit. The problem is that after a few weeks of racing, you HAD to have WD40 or you couldn't get traction. After a month, WD40 stopped working and nothing else worked. Even after a rebuild, the traction was never the same. It's amazing how much the chemicals effect the track itself, not just the tires.
