Default Best speedo for 4wd?

I just picked up a XXX4 and I need a speedo for it. Any suggestions?

well i personally love v7.1's. they are really smooth and can handle any motor. it has lots of cool features like a special system to give to a big punch at the start of a race. i just happen to be selling mine too because i need a tiny one for my FK05.

The lack of details leavs me with blind suggestions. For bashing, you can't go wrong with either a Rooster or Super Rooster (depending on the wind of your motor), but for racing a GT7 by Novak or an LRP AI series controller would be better suited to the task. If you post more details like the type of motor your using, the space you have to work with, the money you have to spend, and the application your going to be using the vehicle for, I can help you better, but right now, it's just a shot in the dark.

LRP AI Series is more for bashing. If you want to go LRP then either Quantum 2 or IPC v7.1 would be the way to go

why not go for an LRP Sphere?

fits really well in the xxx-4 and will run brushed and brushless motors (very well)

a few pictures of one installed on my website

Hey.

My personal choice has been novak for the last 10 years or so. I also had a few GM's and others in between but i have always gone back.

Currently i run 3 GTX's and before that 2 GT7's.

Let me try to be more specific...

First off I'm a racer...not a basher and have been into RC for the past 15 years.

This is my first 4wd...(other than my BMI TC4)...so my concerns are durability along with space and heat issues (being so close to the motor).

The LRP V7.1 fits in the area provided but it makes the leads very short to the motor tabs. I'm leaning more towards a speedo with external solder tabs since the wires would have to be so short?

I cringe whenever I have to cut a 10" wire to to 1" because of space especially when the wires are factory soldered internally.

I will be racing anywhere from a 9 turn on up to a brushless.

I tried the GT7 in my stadium truck and it worked fine except for that tiny on/off switch...Novak really dropped the ball on that! For that reason alone (since it broke on me simply by turning it on and off) I will never buy another one. Give us a switch like the LRP V7.1's...a real switch!

I run a QC2 now in my sedan and love it but I don't know if it will hold up to the abuse of 4wd?...although you always see them in the magazines being used in the pro cars?

I run the Twister 2 O'Hara edition. It's more of a TC speedo but it works very well in my XXX4.

A buddy of mine has a factory sealed V7.1 for me so it looks like I'll be trying that. Anyone else using this speedo in the 4wd?

I run a Mtroniks Tempo. Not sure of the motor limit but I think it's a 11 turn since I'm running a 12 turn in it. It's water proof and that is a huge bonus to me.
