Default sensor wire problem

i have the hobbywing sct pro and tenshock sc411 and i cant seem to find a way to put my sensor wire on because the motor and esc are rite beside each other, its in a slash 4x4. do i have to run the wire and what does it do?

Doesn't need to be on, but it will cog down low. The sensor wire just keeps track of where the rotor is in the magnetic field to make the motor smooth down low.
