I order the "softer" arms because I am a poor driver and they are much more durable when examining a pipe or wall close-up. I'm sure that I couldn't tell the difference in the car's handling.

I don't think that anyone answered the "why" of the RM front arms.

Draw it out on paper and watch how the arc of the shock is different between the two when going from full extension to full compression. Starting from full extension you can see that the lower shock pivot moves toward the centerline of the car quicker (thereby less leverage) with the flat arms. In short the progression of the shock and spring are different. The tower is used to correct the droop when using the flat arms. I liked the improvement of the flat arms and tower though, I found it easier to drive regardless of the physics.

Well, I decided to run some mod buggy tonight because a friend of mine wanted to, and I got the pleasure of putting in some racing against Brian Kinwald and Spencer Rivkin. Sure, I got spanked, but I put on some of the best laps I ever have with the B5M. Funny thing is, my car felt like crap. was pushing hard. Maybe I just make less mistakes with a pushy car. Anyway it was fun.

yeah, laps were about 22-24 seconds. I was in the upper 23 second range. Spencer was in the lower range

I would think your best option would be to practice with the motor you are going to race.

I think you will find that your brake points and how hard you push through the turns in stock is a completely different driving style than how you drive a mod more point and shoot. You can't afford to scrub any speed in a stock vs mod you can brake pivot and jam the throttle off the corners...

Plus you most often leverage way less brake in stock due to the speeds the car is going into the corners. I think it would be good to practice mod to continue to gain more experience in general as it will sharpen you as a whole, but if I were running stock again.. I would be out practicing a lot with the setup I was planning on racing.
