I am hoping to put together a mod MM car soonish. I need a second class to run.
Sounds like the people running MM 17.5 at your track should add holes in the body for air flow. Or switch to an X6 Cubed since it should be lighter with it's graphite chassis.

I have a feeling that SNR, Exotek or Diggity is looking at or should be looking at making a graphite chassis for the B5M.

A fan on the motor is definitely nice. I am kinda surprised AE and TLR didnt integrate a fan mount into the water fall. Most guys in both camp just mod them. Maybe an after market will make a new waterfall/brace with a fan mount built in. But 130 with a fan and a 1600 gram car is pretty impressive. I have vented my bodies and still found that 150 was hard to maintain for 5-6 minutes, much less 10.

What's the ambient temperature where you run?

But you are right, I'm surprise they didn't incorporate a fan into the waterfall as well!

Jconcepts, you listening??

Um, I "think" 78. Its indoor. But....in 17.5 last night my shorty got up to 110 in my RM car. So the traction, plus all of the 180's you punch out off work the electronics. The current layout is pretty heavy handed on throttle.

Lots of braking creates heat too. Some have a hard time keeping cool while others don't have issues at all due to driving style. Its kind of funny you guys talk about motor temps while discussing 2 of the hottest running motors I have found(Tekin and Reedy). Also a lot of heat can be generated from non efficient gearing and timing. Once the sweet spot is found temps tend to be a bit cooler. The weight of the car shouldn't be an issue since 22's are close to the same weight.

alot MM run 17.5 here and so do I. Love them even on our outdoor track. just need to set them up and chose the right tires.

I dont concide to the whole MM is just for sugar and RM is for loamy only thoughts. etc ect...

Since I hate the look of mounting the receiver on it's side I just got out my dremel There is lots of material to be removed before you get to the board.

I have to disagree on the $$$$ part for lower weight. I have spent no money on light parts and im at 1552g rtr. Used v2 slipper and b4.2 turnbuckles and modded the car to the hartson setup.

Some people are getting to 1500 grams. Lol, I dont want to ague what is needed and what is wanted. lol. Many people beleive they need 1500 grams for stock. I dont believe that, but many do. People are buying carbon fiber motor plates, lol. That dont really displace heat like the alum one. I run my cars mostly stock with zero mods. I dont believe in mods. If the car "needs" mods, I sell it.

you guys with a lot of experience in 17.5 if you had $275 burning a hole in your pocket to buy a 17.5 motor and a esc to put in a 5m what would you buy?
