Otherwise I think I might try the tlr cups and studs.
I took the balls out and chucked them up in a drill and then sanded/polished them with 600 grit wet/dry paper followed by 800 grit and then a scotchbrite pad. Loosened everything up nicely, now free moving but not sloppy.

hmm, ok. I might look into polishing them. I am not a huge fan of sandpaper. Anyone using a dremel and a polishing compound to do something similar?

Sorry to ask, I keep seeing it mentioned, but what exactly are "cut gears" and where do you get them? What's the advantage of them?

We are only starting to introduce a 17.5 buggy class for the first time in our area this summer.

So is the general consensus for high bit clay the following?
-B5R Flat Front Arms
-B5R Front Shock Tower
-B5R Rear Arms flipped with .5mm spacers
-Shorty pack

Thanks!

FWIW they come out way smoother than the factory finish. I've used the same technique to polish shock shafts and the finish is very smooth.

That sort of stuff.

People take the stock gears and cut material off of each side making the gear say 1/3 to 1/2 the normal width. The gears are then lighter and because there's less gear to gear contact, there's less friction. This is only done in stock racing and the gears can still be strong enough because of the limited power and obviously they do wear out faster. With a mod motor you'd tear the gears apart with all the power.

Here's one seller: http://www.shop.cbscustomrc.com/Asso...a-Set-CBB5.htm

Are you wet or dry sanding them?

Just dry. Tear off a little pc of paper and wrap it over the ball then work it around the ball with the drill spinning fast. You can see the change in the finish the first time the paper goes over the ball...the stock finish really isn't all that smooth in my experience. The front end was binding a bit and doing this really freed it up.

Just wish I had some place to race it now. Is it October yet?

The first two items go hand in hand; don't do one w/o the other.

5mm spacing ? No. Get the arms and you'll see no spacing is needed, aside from maybe some small shimming forward if you are running the plastic arm mounts.

Seriously....There is a little search button on the top of this thread, it will only search in this thread. Just type "factory team" and view the responses. You can only answer a question 37 times before it gets old.

Here, i did it for you:

Sorry I meant .5mm spacers as it looks like from what others are saying it takes a little shimming forward to switch the rear arms out.

Or someone can just post the information on the first page. Something like:

THERE IS NO ETA ON THE FACTORY TEAM KIT.
