One of the AE design engineers was on one of the threads and answered that question. Short answer....it works better that way. No further elaboration was given. I am sure all the Monday morning, arm chair engineers will offer there own opinion but I am sure they did a lot of testing before going with two separate arms and all the inventory and manufacturing hassles that brings.

It was posted earlier but RC Car Action had a good write up, a little more intuitive that the others.

They said we would see regular updates and videos so hope those start coming out like the reveal did.

I guess old is a relative term here. I meant the b4.2 puck bones. If you can get the out drives to work on the diff then your b.4 puck bones and axles would work in b4.2 hubs if they fit the new arms.

FWIW, I counted the main gear teeth on one of the B5 pics. 52T, same as the B4. Now it's just a question of bearing sizes. But, what the hell do I know. The forum is saying it won't work. Lol.
So only the bearing size and tooth count matter? If you actually look at how the system work you would see one is a cva and one is a cvd. Trying not to sound condescending but when you come at people who are trying to help with attitude I'm not sure what else to do. Go ahead and drop the $70 and then let us know how you got it to work. It will involve different hubs and geometry that is not the same.
Trust me I have garage engineered enough stuff and paid enough in stupidity tax buying stuff trying to make it work.

But just from the picture I can tell it's not going to work without new bones...or using your old hubs and axles.

MIP will have to make new parts to fit the puck system on the B5.
Thank you. People with actual answers.

no problem i tried to use "low profile" bullets and it wasnt as clean with the 2mm bullet balance port. so if i use a saddle in my b5 i will still make a low-profile jumper to run, and still use that same balance jumper to charge.

but as i just picked up a reedy 4100 65c i think i will be running that in-line in my b5. should work very well because the car is not designed around a ~450g 6-cell nimh pack. if i had to guess the ability to run a saddle is just there for legality :P doesnt hurt for tuning either tho.

Let me make this clear for everyone:

It looks like the same gear diff. I guess you can run the avid top shaft and slipper on it?

Sean C, thanks for stepping in here, these guys need some "adult supervision" from some that actually knows what's up!

See you Friday,

Don't think that will work too well since the B4 AVID shaft is machined for a Standard size bearing
