I'm trying to catch up on this thread and noticed a couple pages back that people were saying their X rings leaked? I find that hard to believe unless somebody really did something wrong. They might be one of AEs greatest achievements with the new 5 series cars.

Hi Guys.. I'm curious how long the Pucks usually last? I picked up a used B5M setup for 17.5, and don't think I ran it more then 5-6 practice runs before they were wore out, actually worn a little to far and started to wear on the out-drives. I ordered replacement pucks along with replacement out-drives I was lazy, decided not to replace the out drives just yet, and only replaced the pucks... they lasted maybe 3 practice/batteries. So, I'm assuming the out-drives are done and I'll replace them.. but going forward how long should I expect the pucks to last? Seems to me the molded plastic is pretty soft and led me to wonder if anyone makes them in a stronger material? Anyone know if anyone has tried to 3D print them yet?

Thanks,
Robbie

Make sure to apply black grease, also if your bearings on the axles have any slop in/out or up/down it will make them wear faster.

I get 30-35 packs or 2 weeks out of a set of pucks. I use mobile one synthetic bearing grease on mine. All it takes is being lazy once to wipe a set out.

+1 exactly. My same routine and same amount of packs. And I run mod for what it's worth.

Where/what are you guys greasing on the puck system? Where they mount to the bone or the actual puck itself so it has some greasers it rides in the out drive?
Either one seems as though it would spin right off the first time the gas was hit and therefore seem to be an irrevelant idea
Only reason I ask is because I have 3 race nights on my puck system with doing non of that and everything still looks brand new. Maybe I just got lucky

Mod is a lot harder on the pucks than stock. My son's OEM pucks have lasted from installation with a bit of grease and removal of dust and dirt after a race day. This is on a very well maintained indoor clay track. He got the pucks for Christmas this year and we race pretty much every weekend.

My first set when the Pucks kit was new lasted 30-40 packs no grease. Now I seem to blow through them in half that. Gonna try the grease and clean strategy.

How is your new AE chassis working?

Slacking on track time TBH. Its all built, just no time till this weekend hopefully. PITA getting the speedo mounted flush up to the battery on the new chassis because of the milling.
