Weight!!!! But i'll tell you some factory guys at the local track put them in their mod cars.... and their cars either magically got better or the 3 gear works really well on mod cars too. I drove 2 of them and they lost a smidgen of forward bite but gained a lot of drivability. Those two guys improved their fast laps as well.
Has anybody seen when that MIP 3 gear transmission goes up for sale?

yes you can run a bigger pinion with the 69 spur. I'm sure I could go up a tooth or two without a problem but sometimes I get carried away when practicing so I keep it geared conservatively to keep from burning it up.

I'm warming up to the rdrp bulkhead with inserts. I just hope I can buy additional inserts separately so when they start wearing I can replace them.
If you're running hard...I don't recommend an Alloy bulkhead.
I'm running a 5.35 fdr in 17.5 blinky on my mid motor. 72/35, Reedy Mach 2 at 30 deg timing. speedo and motor come off around 120 consistently. It seems like I'm the only racer at my track running this low of a temp yet I'm still consistently up front and the fastest locally. Maybe its my great looks. The key is to gear for YOUR current track.
tksnobords, I did a very similar layout on my new rear motor I'm working on. I also kept the esc power leads long incase I wanted to flip the battery one way or another, or the battery leads were just short. I have options.
Hey socket, im not seeing that its available?

do any of you guys use the "gullwing" arms and wide shock tower from the B5M? i was thinking of picking a set up and trying them out...
i was reading this article and it said,
"Bob Stellflue, however, explained that the gullwing arms, and wider front shock tower that accompanies them, will instead be a tuning option – and that they’ll most likely be used on the rear-motor car more often. Whereas the straight front arm design increases the progressive feel of the front suspension, making it “stiffer” as the car rolls during cornering, the gullwing arms maintain a much more linear rate as the shocks compress, which makes the front end of the car feel “softer” and increases the car’s steering response."

We have a few hairpin turns, so I will need some decent steering out of the RM car. I have added a 1/2 oz under rack (my car still comes in under weight) running MIP top shaft, MIP Pucks, Exotek slipper eliminator, JC turnbuckles.
Wow. Take six months off and come back to $150 transmissions. Looks great, but no thanks.
Anyone using the shiny puck system in mod? If so, what are your thoughts.
