That's odd. I've had a 3 gear transmission since 2012

That's odd. I thought this thread was for the B5M? Not homemade G10 Dingos?

Default Gear Diff Question

So I built the gear diff for the b5m and it seemed to be smooth... When I put it into the tranny and put in the top shaft and the idler gears without putting the other half of the case on it feels smooth as silk... As soon as I put the other side of the tranny case on, I get a bump in the roataion... like a pinched bearing, but all the bearings are smooth as silk...

Should it be smooth as butter or does it need to be broken in?

Help!!

Going to drop back and check times. New to Orion so playing with it. Any luck with mod firmware in B5m or better to stick with stock firmware for stock?

the new firmware feels like crap. slow, motor gets hot. you could try dropping a few teeth on the pinion, but i just went back to the old firmware

1) Make sure you don't over-tighten the case
2) The gears will certainly break in. Spin it by hand after a few packs and I bet it's butter.

It does it only when the other half of the case is on even when theres no screw in it and youre just holding it together by hand

Put some screws in it and tighten them up it could be that it isn't aligned properly. Also make sure there isn't a small burr or piece of flashing on that side of the case.

if you have some spare bearings might not be a bad idea to swap em out just to see, even though you said yours were smooth. Capt. suggestions is a great one as well. Sometimes gears just need to be run for a min and then they free up.

It should be smooth. Try a new case or check to make sure the bearings are seated properly.

The top shaft bearings dont always seat the best. use the topshaft and try to press them into place.
