RDRP B5 series VTS Slipper Option Kit

Revolution Design Racing Products introduce the VTS Slipper Option Kit for the B5 and B5M, designed to make the most out of the original Team Associated clutch. The 4-piece kit replaces the standard outer and inner aluminium slipper plates with vented variants for improved heat dissipation and fading-free operation. Also the centre VTS plate is replaced with a vented and hard-coated aluminium plate while the VTS slipper housing, originally a moulded composite part, is supplied in a lightweight, blue anodised and laser-etched aluminium variant. Like the slipper plate the housing is of a vented design to not only allow for better heat dissipation but to also lower its weight. All parts are precision machined from 7075-T6 aluminium and they are a direct fit on both the B5 and B5M.

I am not flaming anyone on these upgrades as there is a time and place for it all, However I want to stress to anyone that is more than a few tenths of a second of the leader's pace or laptimes... You are wasting your money on these upgrades! Will your car be faster... Yes, however there is this crazy push right now that even a newer person racing needs to spend the cash on all these upgrades to be competitive. Honestly unless you are running super consistent laptimes and only fractions of a second off the pace, your money will be better spent on a good motor, good slipper, tires & track time.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I have this list on the front page:

  • Xfinity carbon chassis by Xfactory or Stiky Liks milled chassis
  • Tsunami RC Carbon Motor Plate
  • Cut Gears from CB Custom or RCShox
  • MIP, Schelle, AE or Exotek Aluminum top shaft
  • MIP Bi-Metal Puck System
  • Avid, Schelle or Acer Ceramic bearings for the transmission (optional)
  • Exotek or Schelle Slipper Eliminators
  • Avid Triad or Schelle Nova Slipper Clutches
  • Titanium or Aluminum screw kits (or a mix of both)
  • Carbon Fiber Battery Brace
  • Titanium Turnbuckles
  • Low profile servo
  • 14-16 guage wire
  • Shorten receiver wires
  • Protek 2s Pan car pack

That should produce a very light car.

I was just looking for some suggestions on bringing the buggy down to fighting weight but a lot of practice and good tires is the best way and a good motor

Weight does help but it comes down to consistency

IMO, the lighter tranny parts and the alum screw kit is a great place to start. My car weights 1560 with pucks, screws and a few other things. But i have hard parts which add back weight and I use clay slicks which are light. I have plenty of power at that weight because of the light weight tranny parts.

Default Lightening I've done

I've dropped 100g off of my buggy in the past few weeks.
13 by making a cf motor plate
2 by making a cf battery strap
66 by making a cf chassis. Still uses the plastic rails though.
And the last 19 by cleaning up my wiring mess.
Currently at about 1570g
Had the finned turnbuckles to begin with and still have all the stock plastic parts and standard screws and drive line.
Standard sized servo
4600mah nano-tech shorty
Schelle slipper
Big ole mamba max pro with the fan cut off.
Look up "my b5m (and all the wacky experiments)" to see pics

Has anyone broken or stripped gears on their low profile servo in their B5M?

Don't know if other distributors are getting them sooner but I doubt it.
I would plan on being able to get them sometime late January or early February.
