in the interview discussing the composite vs aluminum, it didn't sound to me like they had a problem getting the composite stiff enough, he mentioned that where the motor needed to go that they couldn't get any gussets in that area for strength, so I took as more of a durability issue over a stiffness issue, actually the term may have been "ribbing"

correct. They use the aluminium chassis because it is easier to find a stiff, durable and clean design.

Regarding BRSracings statement about the B5M being under development for as long as the B5, the interview makes it sound as though the separate B5m platform came along a lot later.
I also feel that from the interview and the fact that they dont enough cars/parts to run at the Reedy Race that the posted dates on AMAIN for late Feb for b5 and march for b5m are probably pretty close
